Here’s what you should know:
1. Optum had a 82 percent drop in opioid prescription above the he CDC guideline recommended dose of 50mg morphine equivalent dose per day for first-fill acute prescriptions;
2. For first-fill acute treatment written above the maximum seven-day supply, Optum experienced a 65 percent decrease in these prescriptions.
3. The program lowered prescriptions or current chronic opioid utilizers issues for greater than 90mg morphine equivalent dose per day by 68 percent.
4. Optum lowered the average dose across all opioid prescriptions by 14 percent.
