Music therapy proves comforting for patients

Five sisters in Des Moines, Iowa started an event to help provide music therapy services to those entering end of life care, since these therapies are not covered by insurance and rely on donations and private pay, reported WHOTV.

The Give It Away 5K in Water Works Park, Iowa will help raise money for therapists in hospices to provide comfort therapies.

Jenny Denk of Unity Point Hospice said that performing live allows her to tailor the tone and tempo of the music to the patient’s needs, reported WHOTV.
