MHAUS President Discusses Preventing Inadvertent Exposure to Potent Gas Anesthetics

Dr. Henry Rosenberg, president of Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States, discusses preventing exposure for a malignant hyperthermia-susceptible patient to potent gas anesthetics that may trigger an MH episode in his latest blog entry on the MHAUS website.

 

In the entry, Dr. Rosenberg discusses the cause of the problem, preventative measures taken in the past, consequences of changes to the design of anesthesia machines, efforts undertaken to find practical solutions to the problem and the current MHAUS consensus statement on how to prepare an anesthesia machine for an MH-susceptible patient.
