Infection report shows improved rates for ASCs in New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services’ Division of Public Health Services released a report detailing the number of healthcare associated infections at ASCs and hospitals recorded in the state in 2018.

Out of 33 ASCs licensed by the state, one surgical site infection was reported, 84 percent less than the number predicted based on national data. ASCs in the state adhered to state guidelines to prevent surgical site infections through IV antibiotics 98.5 percent of the time, an increase from the 2017 rate of 98.1 percent.

Among the 33 hospitals licensed by the state, the number of healthcare associated infections was 196, an increase from the 183 recorded in 2017. Hospital adherence to four state infection control guidelines for central line insertions was 98.3 percent, similar to the 2017 rate of 98.5 percent.
