Here’s what you should note:
1. Listening to your patients is essential. A patient may be giving a lot of information on their condition and potential causes, so listening to what they are articulating to a provider can help with that patient’s treatment plan.
2. Have patients fill out surveys in private. Dr. Azzam has patient fill out surveys before surgery and at follow-up appointments at four weeks, four months and every year after the surgery.
3. Show empathy to patients. Make sure you care about questions essential to a patient’s daily life like “How can I do the things I enjoy?”
