Improper Syringe Use at Corning Hospital Puts Patients at Risk

Sayre, Pa.-based Guthrie Healthcare System's Corning (N.Y.) Hospital informed 236 patients that a nurse's incorrect use of a single-use saline syringe may put them at risk for infection, according to a Star Gazette report.

A hospital investigation found that from Oct. 15 to Jan. 29, a nurse reused a single-use saline syringe, putting 236 former patients at risk of contracting hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV, according to the report.
