How quality and value incentives are affecting the shift from inpatient to outpatient care: 3 details

A report from Deloitte examined the role of value-based care has in the shift from inpatient to outpatient care.

Deloitte composed the report through analyzing Medicare claims data between 2012 and 2015.

Here are the key details to know:

1. Hospitals with greater revenues from value and quality contracts provided more outpatient services through hospital outpatient departments and ASCs than other hospitals.

2. All hospitals included in the report experienced a decline in inpatient revenues, but those collecting more revenues from value and quality contracts experienced lesser declines than other hospitals.

3. Visits to outpatient facilities increased by 14 percent.
