The initiative was designed to provide tools and best practices developed by healthcare organizations for preventing surgical fires. The Anesthesia Patient Safety and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses are among those that will provide educational resources for the initiative.
The FDA oversees devices and drugs that may contribute to surgical fires, such as surgical drapes and alcohol-based rubs.
