Here are four points:
1. In a proposal, the FDA wrote, “[Healthcare providers] should be knowledgeable about the range of available therapies, when they may be helpful, and when they should be used as part of a multidisciplinary approach to pain management.”
2. Throughout the nation, chiropractors and other alternative medicine providers have lobbied lawmakers to increase their scope of practice to treat pain.
3. Oregon’s Medicaid program started covering chiropractic care for lower back pain last year.
4. The agency has not finalized the proposal and will accept public comments through July 10.
