Colorado HAI Advisory Committee names Pinnacle III's Michaela Halcomb ASC representative: 4 key notes

The Colorado Healthcare-Associated Infections Advisory Committee selected Pinnacle III Director of Operations and Peak One Surgery Center Administrator Michaela Halcomb, RN, BSN, as the committee's ASC representative.

Here are four things to know:

1. As a new committee member, Ms. Halcomb will participate in discussions relating to ASC issues and surgical site infection reduction. The HAI Advisory Committee's mission is to provide oversight of healthcare associated infections and reporting to ensure accountability.

2. The HAI Advisory Committee's goal is to improve healthcare safety in Colorado. The committee meets every fourth Tuesday of the month for two hours.

3. Ms. Halcomb has nearly four decades of experience in healthcare and has been administrator of Peak One Surgery since 2015. She previously held leadership positions with St. Anthony Summit Medical Center in Frisco, Colo.

4. Under her leadership, Peak One Surgery Center built a foundation for success and completed three accreditation surveys. Ms. Halcomb has led the center's efforts to increase infection prevention and control program surveillance, update program policies and enhance ASC staff education.
