Here are five things to know about the new proposed rule, according to CMS:
1. The proposed rule would aim to improve the beneficiary’s experience with enrollment, communication, care coordination and the availability and accessibility of their covered services.
2. CMS would work with states that already administer Medicaid to work out details of the new rule, reports Forbes.
3. According to CMS, the new rule “would require a quality strategy for a state’s entire Medicaid program and also establish a Medicaid managed care quality rating system.”
4. The ratings will be based on clinical quality management, member experience and plan efficiency, reports Forbes.
5. The ratings would also be public and published on a state website.
