Christenbury Eye Center Conducts Six-Month Quality Improvement Study on iLasik Surgery

Christenbury Eye Center in Charlotte, N.C., has performed a six-month study of iLASIK procedures that documents the improvements of 14,126 eyes, according to a Virtual Strategy Magazine report.

The results of what may be the largest iLASIK single-center study to date showed that 94.5 percent of patients experienced 20/20 or better eyesight after one month. The study found that after six months, 97 percent of patients experienced these results.

The study was conducted on patients from 2005 to 2010 using an all-laser LASIK. The mean patient age was 38, with ages ranging from 18 to 64. The group was 53 percent female and 47 percent male. The surgeries were conducted by Jonathan D. Christenbury, MD, who has performed more than 70,000 LASIK surgeries to date.
