The Centers for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy released a report about the prevalent rates of antibiotic resistance throughout the world, according to Medscape.

2. The CDDEP also devised a new tracking tool that identifies the latest global trends in antibiotic use in 69 countries as well as drug resistance in 39 countries.

3. The CDDEP now has access for the first time to low- and middle-income countries where antibiotic resistance is a growing problem. Despite the rising rate, antibiotic resistance is not the focus of policy solutions for many of these countries.

4. Ramanan Laxminarayan, CDDEP director and report coauthor, stated the CDDEP is hopeful the report with incite these countries to understand the scope of antibiotic resistance in their region and will take research-backed action to limit it.

5. Rather than focusing on new research and development efforts, the CDEEP states drug conservation should be prioritized.
