Here are four notes:

1. The campaign, called “Clean Hands Count,” urges healthcare providers to pay close attention to hand hygiene.

2. One of the ways in which the campaign aims to promote hand hygiene is by addressing some of the myths and misperceptions about hand hygiene. For example, some people mistakenly believe that using alcohol-based hand sanitizer contributes to antibiotic resistance.

3. The campaign also encourages patients and their loved ones to ask their healthcare team to clean their hands if they don’t see them doing so before care is provided.

4. The campaign also provides healthcare professionals with a number of resources to learn more about hand hygiene.
