Ms. Dolan, who is also hospital epidemiologist at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, kicked off a campaign to educate healthcare professionals about the law and how they can improve workplace safety.

Ms. Dolan discussed the sharps safety prevention program at the hospital, which has helped to significantly reduce the bloodborne pathogen exposure rate due to sharps injuries at the facility.

“Many APIC members work in facilities that have seen tremendous successes with decreasing these exposures through sharps safety prevention programs,” said Ms. Dolan in the news release. “All healthcare personnel deserve access to safe, usable tools that will prevent unnecessary exposure in their daily practice.”
