APEX honors Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center: 5 key notes

Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center was awarded the APEX Award for the fifth year in a row.

The APEX Quality Award honors healthcare industry leaders demonstrating the highest quality of care. The award went to 90 facilities, including Iowa City ASC.

“Every day I am witness to excellent care provided by our staff to our patients and their families,” said Julie Brinegar, executive director of the Iowa City ASC. “From the registration staff to the physicians at Iowa City ASC, they all make a dedicated effort to provide exceptional care to each patient and family they interact with. We are humbled to receive this award and grateful to all of our patients and families for taking the time to recognize how excellent our care is.”

Here are five key notes on Iowa City ASC:

1. The center opened in 2008 and surgeons perform around 6,000 procedures there per year.

2. The ASC has accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and Medicare certification.

3. Specialties at the center include ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, pain management, spinal procedures, plastic surgery, podiatry and obstetrics and gynecology.

4. The staff is comprised of primarily RNs with around 15 years of experience.

5. There are more than 60 physicians affiliated with the center.
