American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program recognizes Mission Hospital for surgical patient care — 5 takeaways

The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program recognized Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Hospital for its excellent surgical patient outcomes in 2014, according to Mountain Xpress.

1. ACS NSQIP recognized 52 of 517 hospitals participating in the adult program. Those hospitals in the program are mandated to track the outcomes of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and analyze their results.

3. The ACS NSQIP recognized hospitals for achieving a meritorious composite score, which was determined through a weighted formula combining eight outcomes.

4. Mission Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital that serves as the regional referral center for tertiary and quaternary care.

5. “Mission Hospital recently enrolled in ACS NSQIP to capitalize on a nationally recognized program that we felt could assist us in measuring and continuously improving the quality of surgical care we provide our patients,” said Trent Ibbotson, vice president of surgical services, Mission Hospital.
