AHRQ Releases Report on Technology and Ambulatory Quality

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has released "Findings and Lessons From the AHRQ Ambulatory Safety and Quality Program," which has found correctly implemented technology systems have the potential to support quality in ambulatory care.

The report collects findings from the agency's Ambulatory and Safety Program, which investigates the role of health information technology in enabling quality measurements, facilitating patient-centered care, improving chronic care management and encouraging clinician use of health IT in quality care.

While the results of health IT use in ambulatory care settings are promising, the report notes the necessity of continued research on the use of health IT in quality reporting and the integration of health IT into workflow.
