5 key notes on South Korea’s MERS outbreak

Over 2,300 South Koreans have been quarantined as an outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome sweeps the country, reports Time.

Here are five key notes, according to the report:

1. South Korea’s health ministry reported the total number of people affected by MERS has reached 87.

2. The outbreak began on May 20.

3. Health Minister Moon Hyung Pyo is “cautiously predicting” the outbreak has already hit its peak and will stabilize throughout this week, reports Bloomberg.

4. 10 affected people are in unstable condition.

5. The government will be tracking the cellphones of quarantined individuals to make sure they comply with the restrictions, reports Reuters.
