3 ways ASCs can ensure safe injection practices

The Joint Commission outlined the key safe injection processes ASCs should adhere to.

Three things to know:

1. Develop an infection prevention and control program. Using guidelines from the CDC, ASCs can develop an infection prevention and control program for their staffs to follow.

2. Follow safe injection checklists. The CDC's "one and only" campaign advocating using only one syringe on one patient can help ASCs develop safe injection checklists for their staffs..

3. Reinforce policy with meetings. Creating policies and holding meetings with staff can help prevent mistakes. .
