Here are five things to know:
1. After the patient was found unresponsive, respondents transported the patient to Children’s Hospital, where the patient was deemed brain dead.
2. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner ruled the preliminary manner of death “undetermined.”
3. The patient underwent an outpatient tonsillectomy on Feb. 9 after dealing with tonsillitis since November 2015.
4. While at the hospital, the patient received a dose of oxycodone and was then discharged from the clinic. Per the physician’s instructions, the parents gave the patient another dose of oxycodone. Soon after receiving the second dose, the patient’s breathing became labored.
5. The medical examiner will test a sample of the medication and will perform a toxicology report.
