The health system will continue to perform some maxillofacial surgeries, treating conditions such as facial trauma, plastic surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery.
The decision to cut the line comes after the health system confirmed earlier this month would be furloughing 3% of its workforce — about 360 employees, including some in leadership roles — to help hit its financial turnaround goals. The system has pointed to challenges like rising supply and labor costs as reasons for its recent moves.
Additionally, Marshfield Clinic Health System suspended its surgical services at its Stevens Point, Wis., location and moved them to facilities with better resources last year, according to the report.
