Which states attract the most new physicians? 10 key statistics

A new study from the Association of American Medical Colleges ranked the top states attracting physicians based on growth over the past few years.

The top five states for growth from 2012 to 2014 were:

1. California: 4,617 physicians
2. Texas: 3,842
3. Florida: 3,103
4. New York: 2,225
5. Massachusetts: 2,032

The states with the top growth percentage were:

1. Utah: 9.6 percent
2. Massachusetts: 9.4 percent
3. Rhode Island: 8.8 percent
4. Colorado: 8.5 percent
5. Texas: 8 percent

The United States added slightly more than 40,000 patient care physicians over the past two years.
