Here are the top five and bottom five states that pay physicians the most and the least, respectively:

Highest paying:
1. Indiana – $334,000
2. Oklahoma – $330,000
3. Connecticut – $329,000
4. Wisconsin – $327,000
5. Nevada – $323,000

Lowest paying:
1. Maryland – $256,000
2. New Mexico – $261,000
3. Hawaii – $268,000
4. Massachusetts – $275,000
5. Michigan – $277,000
