Vandalia Health is closing the SurgiCare outpatient surgical facility at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, W.Va., citing a need to reduce duplication and maximize efficiency, WCHS reported Aug. 7.
The closure, effective August 28, will shut down two of the system’s 50 operating rooms. Surgical services will be consolidated at the Outpatient Surgery Center at CAMC General Hospital and the main operating rooms at CAMC Memorial and CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital.
SurgiCare operated three surgical suites and performed more than 300 outpatient procedures spanning urology, general surgery, vascular and podiatry.
CAMC shared the following statement with WCHS: “The decision was made to close SurgiCare based on overall utilization of the operating rooms with the goal to maximize efficiency and scale while reducing duplication. The patients will continue to receive high quality care at other facility operating rooms.”
