Laura Dyrda -

TRIA Orthopaedic Center, in collaboration with HealthPartners, is constructing a new orthopedic clinic and surgery center in Woodbury, Minn., according to a Star Tribune report.

Here are five key notes on the facility:

1. The new orthopedic clinic and surgery center is part of the CityPlace development and will include a 75,000 square foot, three-story medical office building.

2. The project is expected to cost $48 million, and the move will place TRIA closer to competing physicians at St. Croix Orthopaedics.

3. TRIA physicians are looking to move orthopedic procedures to more efficient settings than the hospital, with the surgery center expected to open in the summer of 2017.

4. Earlier this month, TRIA opened a $48 million specialty center in Maple Grove, Minn., in partnership with HealthPartners to accommodate patients there.

5. Orthopedic services need is growing in the community, fueling expansion in orthopedics and sports medicine from many angles. The providers could compete as well as partner with each other going forward.
