Physicians in the Midwest have the highest average salaries, according to Medscape’s 2026 Physician Compensation report.
Medscape surveyed 5,916 physicians across more than 29 specialties between Sept. 5 and Dec. 17, 2025.
Here’s a breakdown of physician average pay by region:
- South: $381,000
- North: $375,000
- Midwest: $400,000
- West: $390,000
