From new health system deals to a bigger pharmacy delivery network, Amazon has kept expanding its healthcare footprint through 2026.

Here’s what’s new, and how it fits the bigger pattern.

New health system partnership: Baptist Health South Florida and Amazon One Medical launched a partnership effective Aug. 1, giving Baptist Health patients across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties coordinated access to One Medical’s primary care. Existing One Medical members keep their current doctors and can transition to Baptist Health specialists as needed. One Medical membership runs $9 a month or $99 a year as a Prime benefit and now spans 20-plus U.S. regions and 10,000-plus employers. Baptist Health joins a roster that includes Cleveland Clinic, Mass General Brigham, Mount Sinai, Houston Methodist, Hartford HealthCare and Baylor Scott & White, among others.

Prescription kiosks expanding: After piloting unstaffed pharmacy kiosks at One Medical clinics in California in late 2025, Amazon Pharmacy plans to expand them to more states in the second half of 2026, prioritizing states with kiosk-friendly pharmacy board regulations. The kiosks dispense prescriptions via QR code within minutes and exclude Schedule III-V controlled substances. Amazon is separately aiming to expand same-day prescription delivery to nearly 4,500 U.S. cities and towns by the end of 2026.

Agentic AI for providers: Amazon Web Services introduced Amazon Connect Health, an AI tool that automates clinical documentation, medical coding, appointment scheduling and patient identity verification, escalating to human staff when needed. UC San Diego Health, an early adopter, is saving roughly a minute per call, has shifted 630 hours of labor a week away from patient verification, and cut call-abandonment rates by 30% overall (60% in some departments). One Medical has separately deployed ambient documentation across more than 1 million visits and plans to expand AI medical coding this year.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
