BCC Research released a new report on Sept. 9, 2026, detailing how artificial intelligence is reshaping outpatient surgical care through improved planning, real-time monitoring and workflow efficiency.
The Boston-based market research firm’s “AI Impact on Outpatient Surgical Procedures — BCC Pulse Report” examines six categories of AI technology now moving into ambulatory surgery settings.
1. Those categories include predictive analytics for perioperative risk stratification, predictive maintenance for surgical equipment, real-time patient monitoring, robotic and image-guided surgical systems, intelligent scheduling and workflow optimization, and supply chain and inventory management.
2. The report cites significant capital flowing into the space. CMR Surgical secured $200 million from SoftBank Vision Fund, GE HealthCare Ventures and Ally Bridge for its Versius robotic system. Caresyntax attracted $180 million from Silver Lake Partners for AI-powered surgical video analytics. Quibim raised $50 million in a Series A round, and OneStep raised $36 million from General Catalyst, Tiger Global and Breakthrough Energy Ventures.
3. BCC Research also points to health system adoption as evidence of AI’s momentum in surgical care. Cleveland Clinic expanded its enterprise-wide AI deployment in 2025, while Mayo Clinic scaled its enterprise AI platform in 2023.
4. The report names a broad set of competitors shaping the market, including Asensus Surgical, Moon Surgical, Medical Microinstruments, United Surgical Partners International, SCA Health, Surgery Partners, AMSURG, Regent Surgical Health, American Vision Partners and ResMed.
