There are 6,434 Medicare-certified ASCs in the U.S., according to data from the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.
California has the most Medicare-certified ASCs of any state with nearly 900. Florida is the only other state with more than 500 Medicare-certified ASCs.
Just three states have fewer than 10 Medicare-certified ASCs: West Virginia, Vermont and Washington, D.C.
