St. Louis Spine & Orthopedic Surgery Center Pioneers Use of Mazor X™ Robotic Guidance Platform for Spine Surgery in the Midwest

In partnership with Surgery Partners -

St. Louis, Mo.,July 12, 2021. St. Louis Spine & Orthopedic Surgery Center, an affiliate of Surgery Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ: SGRY), is the first ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in the Midwest region to add the Mazor X Robotic Guidance Platform to its outpatient spine program. The Mazor X combines pre-operative planning tools and analytics with intra-operative guidance, giving St. Louis surgeons advanced spinal surgery options.

The ASC is also equipped with StealthStation™ S8 surgical navigation and O-arm™ O2 imaging to complement the Mazor X robot for a true, best-in-class operating system. The S8 is the latest version of the Stealth™ technology for advanced tool and anatomical localization.

“We are thrilled to partner with Medtronic to be the first ASC in the Midwest region to utilize the Mazor X and Stealth technology, ushering in a new standard of care in spine surgery,” said Dr. Matthew Gornet. “Orthopedic and spine care are rapidly moving to an outpatient setting. Having the Mazor X robot allows precision through smaller incisions, which aligns perfectly with outpatient surgery. This platform will enable surgeons to use analytics and advanced technology to guide a more streamlined procedure.”

Before entering the OR, surgeons use the 3D planning functionality to plan an optimal surgery in a CT-based 3D simulation of the patient’s spine. In addition, computer analytics provide the surgeon with pre-operative data for procedure planning and intra-operative guidance during the procedure. Using these technologies, the surgeon may operate with precision, efficiency, and confidence.

Dr. Christopher Reeves performed the first spine case at the center where the Mazor X technology was introduced. “This technology is amazing,” said Dr. Reeves. “I am excited to integrate the Mazor X robotic navigation with my expertise in minimally invasive outpatient spine surgery. Robotic navigation brings a new level of accuracy for spinal surgery. Using real time data allows for more accurate placement of hardware and accuracy of decompression to ensure surgical excellence, and the best possible patient outcomes.”

St. Louis Spine & Orthopedic Surgery Center has established its reputation as a leader in spine surgery with its advanced technologies and excellence in patient care. The Mazor X robotic guidance platform coupled with the Stealth technology and O-arm imaging will further this center’s comprehensive outpatient program as well as its regional leadership in spine surgery excellence.
