Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health is renaming its Broadway Same Day Surgery Center in Bismarck, N.D., the David D. Miller Surgery Center. The change follows a $3 million donation from Mr. Miller, a longtime nurse anesthetist, NBC affiliate KFYR-TV reported Sept. 24.
Hospital leaders called the gift the largest donation the Bismarck region has ever received. Mr. Miller finished nursing school in 1966 and went on to a long career as a nurse anesthetist. His donation will fund surgical care and nursing education.
“David’s been an incredibly generous donor of the Sanford Health Foundation for nearly four decades,” said Sara Haugen, vice president of the Sanford Health Foundation.
Ms. Haugen said Mr. Miller first gave to support nursing education. His latest gift keeps funding advanced nursing education and adds support for surgical services.Sanford will put up new signs at the center over the next few weeks.
The naming recognizes nearly 40 years of Mr. Miller’s giving to the Sanford Health Foundation.
