Missoula, Mont.-based Partnership Health Center said Sept. 2 it will cease operations at Seeley Swan Medical Center by Oct. 31, after the board voted on Sept. 1 to decline an extension that would have kept the clinic open through January 2027, the Missoulian reported Sept. 3.
The center’s CEO Lara Salazar said the federally qualified health clinic has run an annual deficit of about $400,000 amid national shifts in the healthcare economy, including Medicaid changes that have left more patients uninsured.
The board approved a request for proposals Sept. 1 to solicit a new provider for the clinic, which serves Seeley Lake and Condon, Mont. Proposals are due Oct. 1.
PHC will begin winding down Seeley Swan services around Oct. 16. The nonprofit said it will continue accepting Seeley Lake patients at its Missoula clinic and offer all Seeley Swan staff a position there.
