Rhode Island nurse is in a stable critical condition after being attacked by a patient 

A Rhode Island nurse in critical condition after a patient attacked him Sept. 9, CBS affiliate WPRI reported Sept. 11.

The nurse, who is employed at Providence-based Rhode Island Hospital, was violently assaulted while working in the inpatient unit of the hospital’s psychiatric department, according to the report. 

The patient, George Bower, is being charged with felony assault and battery and felony assault of a healthcare worker. 

Mr. Bower has been ordered to undergo a competency evaluation and is scheduled to face a judge Sept. 18, according to WPRI.
