Rhode Island ASC 1st in state to perform shoulder balloon implant

Surgeons at Warwick, R.I.-based Ortho RI Surgery Center performed the state’s first balloon implant procedure for non-repairable rotator cuff tendon disease, the company said Oct. 15.

The procedure uses a Stryker InSpace balloon, which is designed to restore the joint without requiring sutures or fixation devices. The FDA approved the balloon for use in the procedure July 14.
