Physician's license revoked after failing probation

California physician Sarwa Aldoori, MD, had her license suspended after failing to comply with her probation requirements which were imposed following a patient death, The Bakersfield Californian reported Aug. 10.

In April 2016, a patient was declared neurologically deceased after undergoing a tummy tuck and liposuction at Advanced Healthcare of Bakersfield and Bella Wellness and Aesthetics, which Dr. Aldoori and her husband own.

The California Medical Board accused Dr. Aldoori of "gross negligence" and alleges the patient was under anesthesia for a "prolonged period." The board additionally accused Dr. Aldoori of performing surgery and administering anesthesia in an unaccredited ASC, violating postoperative care standards, not providing adequate security of liability insurance for one patient and not maintaining proper medical records for a patient, according to the report.

Dr. Aldoori was given seven years of probation, including a professionalism course and a clinical competence assessment, among other stipulations. She allegedly did not complete the clinical competence assessment.
