El Paso, Texas-based John Patterson, MD, has agreed to pay $468,626 to resolve false claims allegations.

Dr. Patterson allegedly received kickbacks from Nursemind Home Care, a freestanding hospice provider, in exchange for falsely certifying patients as eligible for hospice care, according to a March 10 news release from the Justice Department.

The Justice Department claims these false certifications led to improper billing of federal healthcare programs.
