Physician pay by race, ethnicity

White physicians make $47,000 more than their Black counterparts, according to Medscape‘s “Physician Compensation Report” for 2023, published April 14.

Medscape surveyed 10,011 physicians across more than 29 specialties about their income, work hours, job satisfaction and more from Oct. 7, 2022, to Jan. 17, 2023.

Physician compensation by race and ethnicity from lowest to highest:

African American/Black: $311,000

Latino/Hispanic: $338,000

Asian American: $351,000

Caucasian/White: $358,000
