In March, Dr. Reach, who owned three buprenorphine clinics in Virginia and Tennessee, pleaded guilty to three counts of causing drugs to be misbranded while held for sale, according to a June 7 Justice Department news release.

According to the report, he induced various quantities of Schedule III and IV prescription drugs to be dispensed without valid prescriptions by the providers at his clinic. The drugs were prescribed without a legitimate medical purpose and beyond the bounds of professional practice.

He is sentenced to six months to be followed by 18 months of home detention. He was also ordered to forfeit $50,000 and pay a $100,000 fine.
