Surgeons working at outpatient care centers are paid more than surgeons in any other practice setting on average, according to May 2023 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 

Surgeons in the five highest-paying states earn significantly more per year than the U.S. average of $343,990, according to the newest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, released April 3.

Utah is the highest-paying state for surgeons, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 

Nevada is the state where physician assistants earn the most annually, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
