North Carolina ASC collects donations during government shutdown

Morehead City, N.C.-based Carolinas Center for Surgery is collecting items for Coast Guard members working without pay during the government shutdown, according to WNCT9.

Three details to know:

1. Carolinas Center for Surgery is collecting items Jan. 21-25 at any of its eight locations.

2. Donations of non-perishable food, toiletries and personal hygiene items are accepted.

3. The center plans to continue collecting items as long as the government is shut down.
