Dr. Hassad charged individuals hundreds of dollars in cash in exchange for a monthly oxycodone prescription, according to a Dec. 11 news release from the Justice Department.
Law enforcement launched an investigation in the spring of 2021. An undercover detective went to Dr. Hassad, claiming that he was in pain. Dr. Hassad gave the detective 10 prescriptions for oxycodone, totaling hundreds of pills.
Dr. Hassad typically charged about $350 for a 15-day supply of oxycodone and about $700 for a 30-day supply of oxycodone.
Dr. Hassad was found guilty on eight counts. Each count carries a maximum of 20 years in prison, the release said.
