Surgeons Choice Medical Center, a Southfield, Mich.-based facility, disclosed a data breach involving patients’ personal and medical information, according to an Aug. 21 filing with the Vermont attorney general’s office.
The exposed data includes Social Security numbers and health records. Affected individuals can contact Surgeons Choice Medical Center directly to ask about the breach and available resources; the medical center has not detailed what those resources include.
The disclosure adds to a growing list of healthcare data breaches reported to multiple state regulators in 2026, as providers face mounting scrutiny over how they secure patient records.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
