Palm Beach County prosecutors have charged Justin Philip Sulish, 46, with stealing surgical cameras and equipment from West Boca Medical Center and Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Florida, CBS 12 reported Aug. 28.
Investigators say Sulish, a Jupiter-based medical equipment sales representative, stole Karl Storz 4K surgical cameras from West Boca Medical Center in two separate incidents: one on March 19 valued at $20,366.50, and another on May 8 valued at $13,997.25. He is also accused of taking a Universal Navlock surgical instrument tray worth $14,878.50 from Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.
Hospital surveillance video documented the thefts, and a May 11 inventory audit at West Boca first flagged a missing camera, according to the report. Investigators say Sulish posed as a vendor, wearing blue scrubs and pink-and-blue surgical hair nets to access restricted hospital areas without following check-in procedures. FedEx surveillance allegedly showed him shipping stolen equipment, which was traced through Virginia Surplus and Eighteen Medical LLC. In total, nine similar cameras worth roughly $183,000 are missing.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Palm Beach Gardens Police are investigating. Sulish faces charges including grand theft of emergency medical equipment, dealing in stolen property, burglary of an occupied structure and scheme to defraud in the West Boca cases, and grand theft in the Palm Beach Gardens case.
