Louisiana physician sentenced for controlled substance distribution 

Former Baton Rouge, La.-based physician Randy Lamartiniere, MD, was sentenced to 180 months in prison for illegal controlled substance distribution, the Justice Department said April 4.

From March 2015 to January 2016, Dr. Lamartiniere wrote medically unnecessary prescriptions for Adderall, fentanyl, hydrocodone, methadone, oxycodone and oxymorphone. 

His fees ranged from $100 to $300 per visit and he did accept health insurance. He routinely issued prescriptions for Adderall and opioids, the Justice Department said.
