Lafayette, La.-based Our Lady of Lourdes Health closed Lafayette Surgicare, an outpatient surgery center on its campus, The Advocate reported Oct. 24.

A Lourdes spokesperson said the system closed the center to drive efficiency and optimize surgical capacity across the Lafayette market. Lourdes will consolidate the center’s cases at other surgical locations in its system.

Lafayette Surgicare had four operating rooms and two procedure rooms. It occupied an 18,277-square-foot space on the first floor of an 81,000-square-foot medical office building on Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

Lourdes will serve as custodian of the center’s medical records. The system has not decided what it will do with the vacated space, the spokesperson said.

The surgery center opened in 2003 and became part of Lourdes in 2019, when the system acquired Women’s & Children’s Hospital from Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare. That deal also brought an imaging center, a cancer and infusion center, a pediatric specialty center, and several physician practices and clinics under Lourdes’ ownership.

Our Lady of Lourdes is part of Baton Rouge, La.-based FMOL Health, and the closure folds the center’s surgical volume into the system’s remaining sites in the Lafayette area.
