The Indiana House has approved a bill that expands the state’s 2023 ban on noncompete agreements for primary care physicians, WVXU News reported April 10.
The bill expands the initial ban to include all physicians employed by hospitals and their affiliated entities. Independent physician practices are not included in the new ban on noncompete agreements.
Rep. Ethan Manning, a Republican from Logansport, was one of the sponsors of the bill. He told WVXU that the bill is a move away from “anti-competitive business practices.”
The ban on noncompete agreements would apply to contracts signed after July 1. The bill now goes back to the Senate for final approval.
