The percentage of physicians working in a solo practice setting has consistently decreased since 2014, according to data from the American Medical Association.
The organization released its Physician Practice Benchmark Report May 29, which includes data on the distribution of physicians by practice type from 2012 to 2024.
In 2024, the most common practice setting for physicians was a single specialty group, with more than one-third of physicians.
