Former ASC employee that embezzled $4.3M gets 6 years in prison: 4 key points

The former business office administrator for Susquehanna Valley Surgery Center in Harrisburg, Pa., who embezzled $4.3 million, was sentenced to around six years in federal prison, according to the York Dispatch.Here are four things to know.

1. The former business office administrator, Donna Marie Wozniak, pleaded guilty to theft and embezzlement in federal courts last year. She was ordered to pay the ASC $4.3 million in restitution and pay the IRS $1.3 million in restitution.

2. According to the report, Ms. Wozniak used blank checks meant for vendors to pay herself and cashed $4.3 million using multiple bank accounts and then created fake invoices to hide her crimes. She also falsified accounting entries into the ASC’s software.

3. The ASC fired Ms. Wozniak in 2014 after she spent six years embezzling from the center.

4. After serving her 71 months in prison, Ms. Wozniak was also sentenced to three years of probation.
