“We don’t get much business from the hockey team,” Mr. Epstein says. “Once in a while we get a referral.” Instead, the main advantage is that ParkCreek pays for a repeating ad on the electronic board at BankAtlantic Center, where the Panthers play. The ad is displayed at all events in the center, including recent rock concerts by everyone from Barry Manilow and Alice Cooper, as well as circuses and children’s shows.
Patients and physicians notice the connection
“We get a lot of demographics from that ad,” Mr. Epstein says. He declined to say how much it cost, but he estimates that it is well below income the connection brings in for the center, which is hard to pin down.
“People come here all the time and mention the Panthers connection,” Mr. Epstein says. In addition to the stadium ads, the center’s website displays the connection. Physicians know the ParkCreek-Panthers connection well and Mr. Epstein estimates that it helps recruit a physician or two each year.
He says the Panthers bestow the official affiliation on only one healthcare provider in each niche, such as each physician specialty, a hospital and an ASC. Another Florida surgery center Mr. Epstein previously managed originally had the Panthers ASC designation, but when it was sold, the new owners did not want it and he brought it with him to ParkCreek a few years ago.
Thanks to the Panthers designation, “the surgery center is known throughout the area,” he says. “It has helped us be known as a real high-end quality center.”
